LOST PROPERTY OFFICE: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we look at one last expression that came up in last weekend's Ziggurat Breakfast Club.

Today's expression is: a lost property office

Meaning: the place where items found in public places are kept until they are collected. It can also be called a lost and found in US English.

Example 1:
I lost my sunglasses at the museum. I called the museum's lost property office, but they didn't have them.

Example 2:
This afternoon I lost my wedding ring at work, but luckily it showed up in the lost and found at reception. I was so happy when they told me that it was there.
