DEAL (=GOING TO HAPPEN) : meaning and examples

Today we're looking at another meaning of DEAL.
Today's meaning is what is happening or what is going to happen; it is usually reserved for spoken English.
Example 1:
So, what's the deal? Is your mother-in-law coming or not?
Example 2:
Speaker 1: Will you please tell me what the deal is?
Speaker 2: Yes. We're going to meet in 10 minutes in the plaza.
