Today's expression is: chain reaction
Meaning: a series of events, each of which causes the following one.
Example 1:
The financial crisis in the US set off a chain reaction in the international money markets.
Example 2:
When the flammable liquid ignited, it set off a chain reaction of violent explosions in the laboratory.
