ZERO CONDITIONALS: meaning and examples

Good morning and happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope that your week is off to a great start.

For the rest of this week our theme will be Conditionals. Each day, we will ask you to complete a sentence that is an example of a different type of conditional.

We are starting with the ZERO CONDITIONAL. We use this to talk about general truths.

Its form is as follows: (IF simple present) (simple present main clause)

Example 1: If you heat water, it boils

Example 2: If you stay in the sun, you get sunburned.

And here are the examples with a negative statement.

Example 3: If you do not drink water, you become dehydrated.

Example 4: If you don't wear sunscreen, you get sunburned.

Now, you try! Can you make the following sentence into a ZERO CONDITIONAL?

Sentence: Boiling water turns it into steam.

Leave us your answer on one of our social media pages (Facebook or Twitter/X) and we will post the correct answer later. We will also include the answer in tomorrow's Daily Vitamin email.

See you tomorrow!
