WORDY WEDNESDAY: 'SHAMELESS PLUG': meaning and examples

This week, we are looking at a slang term that is somewhat related: SHAMELESS PLUG.
Definition: To promote your personal interest or product in an inappropriate environment, for example in a blog on the Internet.
Example 1: As a shameless plug, she included a link to her website when she left a comment on Facebook.
You might see this on Facebook status updates, with something that looks like:
Example 2: "Shameless plug, everyone! Please check out my new website. Here is the link."
We use PLUG because TO PLUG something is to insert something, which is what people are doing when they promote their website: they are inserting information about their product. PLUG has come to mean "to advertise something."
