VOCABULARY FOR MONEY & FINANCE: meaning and examples

This week we are looking at phrases and expressions related to money and finance.
Today's 1st phrase is: to live within your means
Meaning / Use: This expressions emphasizes spending less than, or equal to, what you earn in order to avoid creating debt.
Example 1: It’s important to live within your means to avoid accumulating debt; I especially recommend not over-using your credit cards.
Today's 2nd phrase is: Cut back on expenses
Meaning / Use: This phrase means to reduce spending.
Example 2: If we want to buy a new car, we need to cut back on expenses over the next year.
