UNCONSCIOUS BIAS: meaning and examples
Good morning / afternoon / evening everyone, depending on when you are reading this lesson. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin.
Today we continue our focus on vocabulary related to diversity and inclusion. In today's lesson we include two phrases.
Today's 1st phrase is: Unconscious Bias
Meaning / Use: this refers to social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form unconsciously; they are generally not aware of these unconscious biases.
Example 1: Because of unconscious bias, we sometimes judge others unfairly.
Today's 2nd phrase is: Understanding different perspectives is essential to...
Meaning / Use: This phrase emphasizes the importance of recognizing various viewpoints.
Example 2: Understanding different perspectives is essential to fostering collaboration and inclusion in the workplace.
