TO SMUGGLE: meaning and examples
Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. I hope you are having a good week.
Today we finish up our series of Daily Vitamins about crime words.
Today's Word is: to smuggle
Meaning: to take someone or something secretly and illegally into or out of a place, especially as a way of earning money.
Example 1: In most countries, the penalty for smuggling drugs is very harsh.
Example 2: The last time I went to California, I smuggled ham (not jam) into the country. To be honest, I was a little bit nervous in the airport.
The person who smuggles is a smuggler.
Example 3: Most people feel that drug smugglers deserve more severe punishments.
