RUSH-1: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.

Today we begin a series of Daily Vitamins about expressions with and meanings of the English word RUSH, which can be a noun or a verb. First we'll begin with meanings, and later in the week we will look at some expressions.

Meaning 1 of RUSH as a verb: to move or to do something with great speed, often too quickly.

Example 1:
Please don't rush off when I'm speaking to you. I haven't finished!

Meaning 2 of RUSH as a verb: to transport or send someone or something somewhere with great speed.

Example 2:
The ambulances rushed the injured people to the hospital.

Example 3:
Relief supplies were rushed to Lorca after the earthquake.
