PHRASAL VERB FRIDAY: 'CLEAR UP': meaning and examples

We continue our posts related to Hollywood with one about the phrasal verb TO CLEAR UP (rumours or gossip). This phrasal verb has many definitions: today we are focusing on just one. 

Definition: to provide information that stops untrue rumours or gossip. 

Example 1: She cleared up rumours that she wasn't returning for the third season of the TV show.

Example 2: To clear up rumours of pregnancy, she posted photos on Instagram of herself and her friends drinking wine.

: He tried to clear up rumours of him moving to another football team, but people still think he's changing teams next season.
