MONEY EXPRESSIONS: TO EARN MONEY: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.

Over the years we have done several Daily Vitamins about expressions related to money. You can see them at the following link.

https://www.ziggurat.es/es/lecciones_ingles/index.asp?rs=MONEY

This week we are going to learn four more money expressions. These were suggested by our Office Manager, Judit. Thanks Judit!

Today's money expression is: to earn money

Meaning 1: to get money for work that you do.

Example 1:
He earns over two-hundred thousand euros per year, but he's miserable. He's working around sixty hours per week and he rarely sees his family.

Meaning 2: to get money as profit or interest from an investment.

Example 2:
Instead of keeping your money in the bank, why don't you invest in the stock market? You would earn a lot more interest.

NOTE: notice that we do NOT say to **win money**, a common mistake for Spanish-speaking students of English.

Have a great day everyone!
