MAN-3: meaning and examples
Hello everyone. Today we look at another expression with MAN.
The funny thing about some of these expressions is that they sound a bit male chauvinist in present society. Therefore, we often replace MAN with WOMAN or PEOPLE.
Today's expression is: a man / woman of the people
Meaning: a man (or woman) who understands and is sympathetic to ordinary people.
Example 1:
Our CEO is a man of the people. That's why people respect him so much.
Example 2:
The prime minister is a woman of the people. I'm sure she will be re-elected.
