MAKE EXPRESSIONS: meaning and examples

Good morning / afternoon / evening everyone, depending on when you are reading this. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin.

Today we focus on some common expressions with the verb TO MAKE that are related to money.

To make money = to earn money.

Example 1: You can make a lot of money in the stock market, but you have to know what you're doing.

To make a living = to earn enough to buy what you need to live.

Example 2: Since opening the shop he hasn't become rich, but he's making a living and he is very happy and content.

To make a profit = when a company's earnings are higher than its expenses, they make a profit.

Example 3: This year's sales are going well; we will surely make a profit.

To make a killing = to earn a lot of money very easily.

Example 4: He has made a killing buying and selling cryptocurrency.
