INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY: CISGENDER

Happy Thursday, everyone! How's your week going?

Today we are looking at the word CISGENDER. This is related to our theme of the week: we are covering words and phrases related to women in honour of International Women's Day. 

Definition: A person who identifies with the gender assigned to them at birth. 

Example 1: Most cisgender people will not fully understand the struggles of transgendered people. But thankfully, they can still support them. 

Example 2: I'm a cisgender, white male. 

We often shorten this to "cis."

Example 3: All of my friends were cis females until I went to college and became good friends with Mary, who is transgender.
