IDIOMS WITH 'SHORT': TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT: meaning and examples

Hello and welcome back! I hope your Friday has been enjoyable so far.

We are finishing our theme of Idioms with the word "Short" with the expression: TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT

Definition: To skip boring details; to get to the point of a story.

Example 1: Why do I live in Barcelona? To make a long story short, I came here for a job and I stayed for love.

We often make the expression shorter by saying long story short.

Example 2: I didn't tell you about the time I got stuck at the airport? Long story short, I waited at LAX for two days!

Example 3: Anyway, long story short, we had to cancel our trip.

We covered this in a 2005 lesson. Travel back in time and read all about it at the following link: https://www.ziggurat.es/en/daily-vitamin-en/?vitamin=477

You can also listen to a new Taylor Swift song called "Long Story Short" for an example of this phrase in use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqQHa2HcGtM

That's it for our lessons this week! As always, thank you so much for reading. We will see you tomorrow!
