HALF-6: meaning and examples

Good morning.

Today we finish with our series of Daily Vitamins about expressions and compound words with half.

Today's compound word is: half-truth

Meaning: a statement that gives only part of the truth, especially when it is intended to deceive someone.

Example 1:
The newspaper reports are a mixture of gossip, lies and half-truths.

Example 2
Please stop telling me half-truths; I want the real story!
