FOOT-3: meaning and examples

Hello and good morning.

Today we finish our short series of Daily Vitamins about expression with the word FOOT (plural = FEET).

Today's expression is: put your foot down

Meaning: to be very strict in opposing what someone wishes to do.

Example 1:
You should put your foot down Mark. Don't let your daughter see him anymore; he's no good for her!

Example 2:
I'm sorry Jack. I'm putting my foot down this time. I will not let you continue with these ridiculous marketing campaigns that haven't attracted a single new client. You're fired!
