EXPRESSIONS WITH POP-1: meaning and examples

Good morning. I hope you had a great weekend.

Today's Daily Vitamin was written by our Teacher Coordinator, Jenny, and comes thanks to one of her telephone students in Madrid, Santi. Santi noticed that the verb POP appeared many times in the British novel he was reading.

In British English, phrasal verbs based on the verb TO POP are extremely common in everyday speech. The basic idea of most of them is to go somewhere quickly or for a short time. Today we will look at TO POP IN(TO)

Meaning: To stop briefly in a place for something

Example 1:
He popped into the café for a cup of coffee.

Example 2:
The next time you pass the Ziggurat office, pop in and say hello.

Enjoy the rest of your day. Bye!
