EXPRESSIONS RELATED TO THE SUMMER HEAT

Hello again, everyone. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. I hope you had a great weekend, and I hope you are having a good day.

By the way, happy summer! On Saturday June 21st, we officially entered the season of summer (in the northern hemisphere). To celebrate, this week we are going look at phrases related to the summer heat. 

Today's 1st phrase is: Sweating bullets

Meaning: This expressions means to sweat profusely, often due to extreme heat or nervousness.

Example 1: I was sweating bullets when I was giving my speech under the very hot sun; I was both nervous and hot.

Today's 2nd phrase is: As hot as hell

Meaning: To be extremely hot.

This is not a phrase that we should use in a formal setting, such as during a meeting at work.

Example 2: We decided to eat lunch inside, since it was as hot as hell outside; it was 95º F (or 35º C) in the shade.
