EGG EXPRESSIONS (PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET): meaning and examples

Good morning / afternoon / evening everyone. I hope you are having a great week. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin.

As you know, this week we have been looking at expressions with the word EGG in them.

Today's final EGG expression is: To put all your eggs in one basket

Definition: to depend for your success on a single person or plan of action.

This expression is often used to give advice and means that one should not concentrate all efforts and resources in one area, as they could lose everything.

Example 1: I am applying to several universities because I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket.

Example 2: Don't just apply to that one job that you like. My advice to you would be to apply to 3 or 4 jobs at the same time and avoid putting all your eggs in one basket
