CRY EXPRESSIONS-4: meaning and examples

Today's expression is: to cry out
Meaning: to make a loud sound without words because you are hurt, afraid, surprised, etc.
Example 1:
When I stepped on her foot, she cried out and startled the people watching the film in the cinema.
Example 2:
The injured football player cried out in pain after his ankle was twisted.
