CRACK-4: meaning and examples

Good morning again. I hope all of you had a nice weekend.

Today we look at another expression with the word CRACK.

Today's expression is: to crack down (on someone / something)

Meaning: to try harder to prevent an illegal activity and deal more severely with those who are caught doing it.

Example 1:
In Barcelona the police are cracking down on graffiti artists.

Example 2:
Be careful Jack. The boss is cracking down on late employees. If she sees that you're late for a second day in a row, you're going to have problems.
