Today's expression is: to give / have the green light
Meaning: If someone in authority gives a green light to something, they give permission for it to happen or be done.
Example 1:
The bank has given us the money, so now we have the green light to start the project.
Example 2:
The local government has finally given the green light to the project to clean up the river that runs along central park.
