WORDY WEDNESDAY: 'TO ACE (A TEST)': meaning and examples

Welcome back, everyone! How is your week? I hope that it is going well.

Last Wednesday, we looked at the expression TO BOMB (an exam). This means TO FAIL an exam. After such a depressing idiom, I thought that today we would look at the opposite expression; and something much more positive: TO ACE (A TEST)

Definition: to do incredibly well at something (often a test).

Example 1: I aced my chemistry test. I think I even got the extra credit question correct!

Example 2: She aced all of her entrance exams and so they gave her a special award.

Example 3: I aced my driver's test . . . the third time I took it.

This word is also common in tennis. When you ace someone, it means that you served the ball and your opponent was not able to hit the ball back to you.

Have you ever aced an exam? Have you ever bombed an exam? Tell us about it on our Facebook page.

That's all for today. As always, thank you for reading. Have a great day!
