Good morning. Today we continue with yesterday's topic of salaries.
Today's expression is: TO GET A RAISE
Meaning: to receive an increase in your salary or wage.
Example 1:
Tony got a raise after reaching his objectives three years in a row.
Example 2:
After taking a course about negotiation, I asked my boss for a raise. I didn't get it though.
It's important to note that employees get raises and employers give raises.
TO GIVE A RAISE
Example 3:
My boss wouldn't give me a raise, so I decided to look for another job.
Example 4:
Giving the team a raise may help to increase performance, but it's not the only factor. How else can we motivate them?
