QUICK-4: meaning and examples

Hello again.

Today we finish our look at expressions with and meanings of the word quick in English.

Today's expression is: to cut someone to the quick / to the bone

Meaning: to upset someone a lot by doing or saying something unkind.

Example 1:
His cruel comments cut her to the quick.

This expression can also mean to slice someone's flesh very deeply.

Example 2:
He cut his finger to the quick/bone with a sharp knife.
