LAPTOP (COMPUTER): meaning and examples
Good morning everyone.
Today's word is: lap
Meaning: the top part of your legs that forms a flat surface when you are sitting down (in Spanish = falda or regazo)
Example 1:
There were no seats on the bus, so my son sat on my lap.
In English we use the word laptop to refer to a small computer that can work with a battery. We put it on top of our lap. We don't generally call it a portable computer.
Example 2:
I used to have a very big laptop computer to bring with me when I travelled to see clients. Now I have a very small notebook computer, which is much more convenient.
