YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER...: meaning and examples
Hello everyone. Welcome back to the Daily Vitamin. I hope you had an excellent weekend, and I hope your week has started off well.
This week we are going to look at phrases that we can use to give other people advice. All of the phrases that we will present this week are quite polite. They are not commands, they are suggestions.
Today's 1st advice phrase is: I recommend that you...
Example 1: I recommend that you start studying earlier for the exam.
Today's 2nd advice phrase is: You might want to consider...
Example 2: You've been working since 6:00 AM. You might want to consider taking a break.
This first phrase is a bit more direct than the second phrase: recommending is stronger than suggesting that someone consider an option.
👉 Now it's your turn. I recommend that you write your own original sentence for each of these advice phrases. You can post your sentences on one of our social media sites (Facebook or Bluesky) and we will give you feedback about your writing as soon as we can.
