WRITE-3: meaning and examples
Hello again.
Today we continue our review of expressions with the word WRITE. Today's expression is very similar to the second meaning that we gave for yesterday's expression, TO WRITE DOWN.
Today's expression is: to write something off
Meaning: to cancel a debt; to recognize, officially, that something is a failure, has no value, etc.
Example 1:
The building that burnt down is no longer considered an asset; it will be written off.
Example 2:
We can certainly write off his opinion; he never knows what he's talking about.
