WALLET vs. POCKET: meaning and examples

Good morning,

I hope you had a great weekend. Today we are going to look at two easily-confused words.

Today's words are: WALLET and POCKET

Meaning of WALLET: A small, folding, flat object for holding money and credit cards. It fits in your pocket and it is usually made of leather or fabric.

Meaning of POCKET: A small piece of fabric or a bag that is sewn onto clothes. You can put small objects in it. For example, trousers often have two pockets at the front and two pockets at the back. Many jackets have two pockets at the front and you can put your hands in them.

Example 1:
Someone stole my wallet out of the back pocket of my jeans when I was on the underground this morning!

Example 2:
Please take everything out of your pockets before you put your clothes in the laundry basket. Old Kleenex, papers, coins... I mean everything!

Have an excellent day!
