VOCABULARY FOR INTERESTING PROFESSIONS: MONGER

Today we continue our Vocabulary-for-Interesting-Professions theme with the word MONGER. 

Definition: A dealer, trader, or promoter of a specific good. Typically, the specific good is at the beginning of the word. 

Example 1: I bought this beautiful salmon from my local fishmonger. 

Example 2: We went to our neighbourhood cheese shop and got a great recommendation for a cheddar from our cheesemonger. 

We also use warmonger and peacemonger for people who promote ideas that contribute to war or peace. 

Example 3: I will not vote for that man. He's a warmonger. 

Example 4: She worked her entire life as a peacemonger between the two fighting groups.
