TOEIC WRITING PRACTICE: CONJUNCTIONS (NEVERTHELESS): meaning and examples

Hello and happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

This week our theme is Conjunctions. Conjunctions are useful when writing complex sentences. They are very important to learn and use for language exams, such as the TOIEC and Cambridge CAE and FCE.

As a general note, you might find this week's vocabulary to be more advanced than some of our other Daily Vitamin posts. If you have any questions about these words or their use, I encourage you to post your questions on one of our social media sites (Facebook, Twitter) so that everyone can benefit from the questions and answers.

Today we are looking at the conjunction: NEVERTHELESS

Definition: In spite of.

Example 1: You were late. Nevertheless, the doctor can still see you for your appointment.

Example 2: He said he did not like cats but, nevertheless, he let his daughters keep the tiny kitten.

NOTE: The word NEVERTHELESS is more formal. It is often used in sentences where "however" could also be used.
