It's day two of our TOEIC Practice Vocabulary lessons. Today we are looking at the word WITHSTAND.
Definition: To be strong enough as to not be changed by something.
NOTE: The past participle is WITHSTOOD.
Example 1: This tree has withstood two hurricanes and it is still growing strong.
Example 2: This building can withstand earthquakes.
Example 3: I'm not sure if I can withstand another day like yesterday. We worked for 14 hours!
