TO SPILL THE BEANS: meaning and examples

This week we are going to learn four new expressions suggested, once again, by Judit.
Today's expression is: TO SPILL THE BEANS
Meaning: to tell somebody something that should be kept secret or private.
Example 1:
I asked Janet not to tell anyone about the surprise party, but in the end she spilled the beans. Now Pat knows about his own surprise party!
Example 2:
We wanted the new business plan to be kept secret until the launch. But guess what... Bill has already spilled the beans to the press and by now all of our competitors know about it!
