THEME THURSDAY: FAMOUS NOVEL OPENINGS ('A CHRISTMAS CAROL'): meaning and examples

Hello, readers! It's the first day of December, can you believe it?

Because of next week's holidays, this will be our only Theme Thursday post of December. We are, therefore, continuing our theme from November: we are looking at a famous expression from a famous Christmas book: Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol

The famous line from this book is the following:

Bah, humbug!

Definition: an expression to show disgust.

The character Ebenezer Scrooge uses this expression when talking about Christmas. Mr Scrooge really hates Christmas! Nowadays we use this expression as a way to jokingly show disgust for something.

That's all for today. Thanks for reading!
