TENSE TUESDAY: THE FIRST CONDITIONAL: meaning and examples
Hello everyone, and welcome to Tuesday's Daily Vitamin! Today we are looking at the FIRST CONDITIONAL.
Here is the form:
IF PRESENT SIMPLE, . . . (THEN) WILL (NOT) INFINITIVE
Example 1: If it rains on Tuesday, (then) we will have the party inside.
Example 2: If the train to the airport is late, (then) I will miss my flight.
Example 3: If we are late, (then) we won't see the opening of the theatre production.
This Conditional is used to describe specific events, not things in general. We use the ZERO CONDITIONAL to describe things in general, and we will discuss this in a future lesson.
That's all for today. If you go to Ziggurat's Facebook page, then you will see that there is a post about this lesson. You can give us your example sentences with the FIRST CONDITIONAL if you'd like.
