Meaning: to like or feel attracted to someone you've just met, especially in a romantic sense.

Example 1:
My older sister has really taken a shine to you. Would you like to meet her?

Example 2:
Craig immediately took a shine to Mickey when they met at the party. They have been married for more than 20 years now.
