STRIKE UP SOMETHING WITH SOMEONE

Hello again.

Today we finish our review of expressions that have the word strike in them. Today is also the last Daily Vitamin until Monday, January 10th 2011.

Today's expression is: to strike up something (with someone)

Meaning: to begin a friendship, relationship, conversation, etc.

Example 1:
My brother is not timid at all! He often strikes up conversations with complete strangers.

Example 2:
I struck up a friendship with Paul while we were on a business trip together. Over the years we have become best friends.
