SQUARE EXPRESSIONS-1: meaning and examples
Good morning everyone. I hope you had a nice weekend.
Last week we looked at expressions with the word ROUND, this week we're going to look at expressions with the word SQUARE.
Today's expression is: back to square one
It means: to return to where you started, with no progress having been made.
Example 1:
Soon after she completed her cancer treatment she was back to square one, and back in hospital again. However, she is going to fight until the very end.
Example 2:
I worked all summer to pay for my university tuition. Once the year was over, I was back to square one and had to start working again.
