SO vs. SUCH: meaning and examples

Today we are going to explain the difference between SO and SUCH. We use both of these words to give emphasis to qualities. Let's look at the difference:
Meaning of SO: Use SO adjective to give emphasis to the adjective. We are emphasizing the quality indicated by the adjective when we use SO.
Example 1:
The Gasol brothers are so good at basketball that they were offered contracts to play in the best basketball league in the world... the NBA.
Example 2:
I'm so hungry that I feel like I might faint if I don't eat right away!
Example 3:
That sofa is so old. I think it's time to get a new one.
Meaning of SUCH: Use SUCH A adjective singular countable noun to give emphasis to the adjective and the noun. We are also emphasizing the quality of the adjective, but we must use SUCH when we state the noun.
(NOTE: Uncountable nouns only have one form. Countable nouns have a singular AND a plural form.)
Example 4:
We have such a big house; there is plenty of room for you to stay with us when you visit.
Example 5:
He is such a generous person; he often gives money to charity.
