Meaning 1 (especially in UK English)
: elegant, stylish or well-dressed. Something or someone that is smart has a good appearance.

Marianne: You look very smart today, Phil! I'm not used to seeing you in a tie. What's the occasion?

: I have a job interview, so I want to look my best.

Meaning 2 (especially in American English)
: Intelligent, quick-thinking or savvy.

Example 2
:
That boy is very smart. If he makes an effort, he'll probably graduate at the top of his class.

We often see the word smart in many products these days: a Smart car, smart phones, etc. Do you think that smart (in this advertising context) means elegant, intelligent or both?
