PHRASAL VERBS WITH JACK: JACK (SOMEONE) AROUND: meaning and examples

Hello, everyone! How was your weekend? I hope it was fantastic. And I hope that you are ready for some more Daily Vitamin lessons. 

This week, we are looking at phrasal verbs with the word JACK in them. JACK is a common name in English, but it's also a verb that is a part of many phrasal verbs. We will learn five this week!

We begin with the colloquial phrasal verb: TO JACK (SOMEONE) AROUND

Definition: To waste someone's time, often by being evasive, indirect, or insincere. 

Example 1: I wish he would stop jacking me around and just tell me if I have the job or not. I have gone in for three follow-up interviews and I still don't know if I have the job. It's very frustrating. 

Example 2: I wouldn't use this bank. They jack you around a lot and charge you for services you did not agree to purchase. 

Example 3: We were very interested in buying a new house. Unfortunately, the sellers jacked us around and changed the price and agreement-terms constantly. In the end, we removed our offer.

Example 4: The company is being accused of jacking around customers who are requesting refunds for faulty products.

This phrasal verb has different meanings, but with this meaning it is SEPARABLE
