PHRASAL VERBS FOR GOALS (GIVE UP): meaning and examples

Hello everyone. I hope you are having a good day.

As you know, this week we are looking at phrasal verbs related with goals

Today's phrasal-verb expression is the opposite of yesterday's expression: To Give Up

Definition: to stop trying to do something before you have finished, usually because it is too difficult.

Example 1: After attempting to get her Marketing proposal approved by the board of directors, and being rejected three times, Janet finally gave up and decided to concentrate on another project.

Of course, we could use the same verb in a more positive way:

Example 2: Janet's Marketing proposal was rejected by the board of directors three times, but she's determined not to give up until her proposal is passed.

All of us face challenges in life, but if there is something that we really want, we cannot give up. For example, learning English might be a challenge for you. However, if you stay consistent, you will learn. Don't give up.

I'll see you tomorrow with another lesson. Enjoy the rest of your day!
