PHRASAL VERB FRIDAY: 'BANK ON': meaning and examples

Hi, readers! It's everyone's favourite day of the work week, and it's Phrasal Verb Friday!

Today we are looking at the phrase TO BANK ON (SOMEONE/SOMETHING)

Definition: to rely on someone or something. 

Example 1
: Saturday's party is outside, so I am banking on it being sunny.

Example 2
: We are banking on donations to help us start our foundation. 

Example 3: I wouldn't bank on Jenna attending the event. She often cancels at the last minute. 

Example 4
: Getting a birthday gift from my cheap uncle is not something I bank on each year. 

This phrasal verb is INSEPARABLE and TRANSITIVE.
