MAINTAINING YOUR ENGLISH IN SUMMER: meaning and examples

Good morning. I hope you are well.

As we near the summer holidays I become nervous for English students. Why? The average English student takes a holiday from English in July, August and September; that means basically taking one-fourth of the year off from English. And some even stop in June and don't start again until October, which represents one-third of the year!

If you really want to learn (and maintain) your English, it's important to form a habit of using English, even during the holidays. Summer can even be a time to increase your practice and contact with English! I have seen many students come back from the holidays with a higher level of English than when they left, either because they went on holidays in an English-speaking country or because they simply made a point of working with English a little bit every day (or almost every day).

If you're not sure what to do to keep your English alive in the summer, we can give you some simple suggestions. To receive a document with suggestions, just send an email to didactic@ziggurat.es with the words "summer suggestions" in the subject field.

Also, remember that if you live in Barcelona you can sign up for high-quality Ziggurat English communication intensives (in July or September) with small groups of 4 to 8 students. For more information, please contact us at info@ziggurat.es or 933635478. It's a great way to give your English a boost in a very short time.

If you have any questions about today's Daily Vitamin, please post them in the Daily Vitamin Plus! forum section on our website (www.ziggurat.es).

Have a nice day!
