HOLD-2: meaning and examples

Hello again everyone.

Today we continue our review of expressions with hold.

Today's hold expression is: to hold off

Meaning 1: to not start (if said of rain or a storm).

Example 1:
The rain held off just long enough for the tennis match to finish.

Meaning 2
: to not do something immediately.

Example 2:
They were thinking of buying a new flat right away, but now they have decided to hold off until the prices drop even more.
