FECHAS EN INGLÉS-3: meaning and examples
Good morning!
Hoy seguimos con las fechas en inglés, pero en esta Essential Weekly Vitamin más que aprender a escribirlas, practicaremos cómo se dicen. Lee conmigo las siguientes fechas:
30th March 1993 = (The) Thirtieth of March, nineteen ninety-three
Los años en inglés se leen de una forma diferente al castellano. Vamos a practicar un poco más:
1200 = twelve hundred
1305 = thirteen (hundred) o [ou] five.
1498 = fourteen (hundred and) ninety-eight
1910 = nineteen (hundred and) ten
1946 = nineteen (hundred and) forty-six
2000 = two thousand
2005 = two thousand (and) five
2010 = two thousand (and) ten OR twenty ten
Para anunciar una fecha se utiliza It's:
It's April the first / It's the first of April.
Para preguntar la fecha decimos:
What's the date today? ¿Cuál es la fecha de hoy?
What date is your birthday? ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?
Para distinguir las fechas antes y después del nacimiento de Cristo se utilizan las abreviaciones BC (Before Christ –antes de Cristo) y AD (Anno Domini - el Año del señor en latín):
Nefertiti was born in 1370 BC
Nero was the Roman emperor from 54 to 68 AD.
