CHANGE-5: meaning and examples

Good morning everyone and welcome back to the Daily Vitamin for the 2013-2014 academic year!

I hope all of you had a great summer and didn't disconnect, too much, from your English studies.

Many of us decide to change things in our life when we begin a new academic year, so I thought we'd start off the year with a series of Daily Vitamins about expressions with the word CHANGE. You may also want to see the past six or seven Vitamins about CHANGE that we've done over the years. You'll find them at the following URL.

Today's expression is: to change your tune

Meaning: to express a different opinion or behave differently when your situation changes.

Example 1:
I can't believe how much he criticised Janet for having lost her job in the middle of a crisis. Wait until it happens to him; he'll soon change his tune.

Example 2:
The bank teller was very unpleasant until she learned that I wanted to deposit 850,000.00€ in an account. She suddenly changed her tune.

Have a great day and an excellent academic year 2013-14.
