BRIBE: meaning and examples

Good morning. Today's word is: a bribe (noun), to bribe (verb) or bribery (noun referring to the crime). It means: the money or presents that you give to somebody so that they will help you by doing something dishonest or illegal. Example 1: The government official was forced to resign after accepting bribes from companies who wanted government contracts. Example 2: My brother is always trying to bribe me into doing his homework for him, but I won't. If our parents found out, I would be in big trouble! Example 3: Accusations of bribery have made people very suspicious of Olympic Committee members and their supposed impartiality in choosing Olympic cities.
