TO KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED: meaning and examples
Good morning!
Today's expression is: to keep your fingers crossed
It means: to hope for the best in a situation that could potentially be negative.
It's more or less a direct translation of the equivalent expression in Spanish/Catalan.
Example:
Speaker 1: If it rains today, we're going to have to cancel the party.
Speaker 2: Well, let's hope it doesn't; keep your fingers crossed.

Once again, I want to thank all of you who sent in testimonies about your English-learning experiences; I received more than 50 e-mails! I enjoyed reading them very much.
Next week I will try to cover some of the more important problems that were mentioned in your testimonies. I probably won't tell you anything that you don't already know, but I hope to help motivate you to change your English-learning habits and finally reach your objectives. Oh, and I'll also tell you who won the symbolic prize for the most interesting testimony. ;-)
